Fishing off Boca Raton is Red Hot Right Now!

Offshore Fishing Report:This past week we have been seeing lots of action while drifting with live baits along the deeper sides of the reefs off Boca Inlet and Highland Beach while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters. Our most reliable species has been the bonito, but more glamorous species such as monster blackfin tuna and kingfish have been blasting our baits amidst the bonitos in 90-180 ft of water.

If there is an onshore breeze, the mahi mahi have been coming into the same depths as they follow schools of flying fish and sargassum weed lines closer to shore than usual while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters.

This 29 lb wahoo ate a live pilchard in front of Boca inlet for one of our clients on Saturday!

A Summer weather pattern has set in, so it goes without saying that the mornings will most likely be hot and sticky with little to no wind drift. This will make kite fishing tough, but we have had good action while slow trolling on the days when the still conditions exist. Slow trolling our live baits allows us to cover miles of ocean at different depths and temperature breaks while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters. We have had exceptional luck last week using live goggle eyes on the slow troll for monster king mackerel and even some decent wahoo. The wahoo seem to like the baits when they are moving, while the kingfish tend to bite when a bait stops after moving. We always keep our baits moving this time of year, trying as much as possible to make our baits grab the attention of wary game fish. The wahoo are usually found in the 150-600 ft depths this time of year, and sailfish are most likely to be encountered in these depths offshore of Boca Raton as well while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters. This is the best time of year to fish with live bait on light tackle for offshore species, so give me a call to book your trip today!

Inshore Fishing Report: As the end of snook season approaches on May 31, we have been booking up very quickly with inshore anglers looking to score tasty snook fillets before they go off limits.

This 42″ monster snook was too big to keep, but that didnt stop Scott Tiernan from getting a real thrill out of catching her while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters!

The snook have really come out of the woodwork in the last week or so and are already making a strong showing at Boca Raton and Boynton Inlets while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters. The secret to finding these linesiders for us has been finding the schools of pilchards and glass minnows. Wherever the glass minnows and pilchards are holding, you can bet that there are snook around. There has also been a pod of small tarpon working the beaches of Boca Raton that have been feeding on threadfin herring and live silver mullet while on one of our Boca Raton fishing charters. This is the best time of year to catch snook and tarpon in the same day while fishing the Boca Raton area!
