November 2016 Fishing Report And Forecast

The cool winds of Fall are upon us and the fishing has really started to heat up for sailfish and Wahoo offshore. Inshore, pompano, permit, and even bonefish have been biting when the winds blow from the north. When the winds have been Northeast there have been a few mahi mahi biting near the reef only a mile offshore. We have been targeting sailfish with live bait and trolling for the Wahoo and the mahi with lures. Inshore along the intracoastal,we have been using cut shrimp to catch the pompano, permit, and bonefish. The snook and tarpon have been tougher to find with water temps cooling down, but after a heavy rain the snook bite should continue to be good even during cooler weather. I expect the same pattern to occur over the next couple weeks. Here are some photos from some of our November 2017 Boca Raton Fishing Charters:

02/04/16 Fishing Report

Yesterday the wind was blowing 15 to 20 mph out of the Southeast, making for very choppy conditions on the ocean. Despite 4 to 6 ft seas, my morning charter was amped up to do some offshore fishing. We started trolling around 7:30am and immediately landed a kingfish and a dolphin. The action remained fairly steady and we were able to land 3 more dolphin before heading in at 10:30am. We also hooked a sailfish, but he came unhooked after making a hundred yard run. Overall it was a successful half day charter with 4 dolphin and a kingfish making it to the fillet table.

My afternoon trip was an inshore fishing charter along the intracoastal waterway. We started the trip buying 2 dozen pilchards for live bait. We tried tarpon fishing at one of my favorite spots, but they were nowhere to be found and we moved after 20 minutes. We then made a 2 mile run to an area where the jacks and bluefish have been thick. We had a blast catching a few jacks up to 10 lbs and a couple bluefish up to 4 lbs on artificial lures. They were hitting plugs and spoons on the troll in 5 ft of water. After the jacks and bluefish stopped biting we made a 3 mile run back to the south to fish the Boynton spillway with live bait.

We ended up hooking 5 snook and landed 2 of them. They were not keepers, but still fun to catch on light spinning tackle. I have inshore and offshore charters lined up for the rest of the week, so stay tuned for more fishing reports for the Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach area

Boca Raton Snook Fishing Charters: Live Chumming With Captain Chris Agardy

Boca Raton Snook Fishing Charters: Live Chumming With Captain Chris Agardy
Captain Chris and a happy client with a 28″ snook caught on a live bait around noon.

Boca Raton Snook Fishing Report: Now that we have reached the middle of Summer the snook are everywhere and they are eager to bite! Although snook season is closed until September, we have been focusing most of our attention on snook during inshore charters. The tarpon bite has been phenomenal as well, but snook fishing has been more consistent over the past few trips. The easiest way to catch snook around Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach right now is to castnet hundreds of pilchards to use as bait and live chum. Live chumming for snook involves throwing out handfuls of these live pilchards into the water when we know that we are in a good area holding fish. Even when the bite is slow, snook can often be “tricked” into being hungry once they realize we are giving them free live baits. Once the snook start popping around the boat, then we put hooks in a couple baits and cast out the rods. It usually doesnt take long for a snook to eat one of the baits, and the snook that we are catching this time of year tend to be on the large side. We are focusing most of our snook fishing in Boca Raton around the beaches, inlets, and canals where bait is present.

Boca Snook Fishing
A nice 30″ snook from early August caught at the Boynton spillway.

Basically, anywhere you can find concentrations of bait right now you will also find snook around. We are using light fluorocarbon leaders of 30-50lb test depending the size of the baits and the snook that we are targeting. Circle hooks are the best bet for us during the catch and release fishery that we are experiencing right now. If you are looking to book one of our Boca Raton snook fishing charters, you can give me a call today, as I have plenty of availability for trips right now. Tight Lines,

Boca Raton Fishing Charters
12/06/14- Barracuda

12/08/14 Boca Raton Fishing Report: For this week’s fishing report we are starting to see a Winter pattern set in as water temperatures are dropping in the backcountry areas. The snook are becoming harder and harder to find with cooler water temps and less rainfall, but the tarpon fishing is just beginning to heat up in the intracoastal waterway. While using live bait we were able to jump two small tarpon in the Boynton Beach area last week. There has been no shortage of jack crevalle, and we have been releasing at least a dozen per trip. Other exotic species caught this week were sunshine bass, and barracuda. The snook fishing will only be good during warm periods in between fronts, but the tarpon fishing should continue to improve over the next couple weeks. Boca Raton Fishing Report: Big Blackfin Tuna And Dolphin Biting Offshore, Snook And Tarpon Inshore

Pay With Bitcoin And Get 20% Discount One Our Boca Raton Fishing Charters
This 20lb blackfin tuna was caught using a live bait underneath a fishing kite during an offshore charter last Saturday.

Boca Raton Fishing Report: Our customers on the “Billy Goat” have been experiencing great live bait fishing offshore for big blackfin tuna, sailfish, dolphin, kingfish, false albacore, and the occasional cobia. The best fishing for all of these species has been in depths of  80 to 120 feet where a strong North current is running. This past week the best bite was during and right after high tide.

Trolling has been decent for schoolie sized dolphin and kingfish, with the occasional football blackfin tuna being brought back to the dock during our Boca Raton fishing charters. The best trolling baits have been fresh bonito strips, but ballyhoo have been working when fished way behind the boat. Drone spoons also do very well this time of year.

(01/06/14) Boca Raton Fishing Report: Tarpon And Jacks Biting For Inshore Charters

01/06/14 Boca Raton Fishing Report: Tarpon And Jacks Biting For Inshore Charters

Boca Raton Fishing Report: Our customers have been experiencing an awesome inshore bite for tarpon and jack crevalle this week as high winds and heavy seas have kept us from going offshore. We have been tracking a decent size school of tarpon in the intracoastal waterway, and they have been biting for us very good when the tides are moving and the sky is overcast. The tarpon fishing in the Boca Raton area can be phenomenal this time of year, and beginning to expert anglers are having a blast hooking into these acrobatic inshore gamefish. In our last 2 inshore charters we hooked 7 tarpon and landed 3 of them. Jack crevalles have been offering plenty of action in between tarpon bites. To book one of our Boca Raton fishing charters for tarpon and jack, give us a call today!
