5/10/16 Fishing Report: 1st Place Small Boat Division In Saltwater Shootout!

I joined the “Controlled Slack” fishing team for the 2016 Pompano Beach Shootout. We won 1st place small boat division and 22nd overall out of 145 boats. We were able to weigh 63.9 lbs of tuna and kingfish. We made the run to fish my home waters near Boynton Inlet and the decision paid off with some decent Blackfin tuna fishing. We managed to land 3 out of 4 tunas hooked, all weighing 13 to 20 lbs. Around 2pm we went offshore and we found frigate birds with small dolphin under them. We landed a 7 pounder before heading back inshore for a big kingfish or cobia. We caught a small cobia, a 10 lb kingfish, and quite a few bonito before calling it a day. We also hooked into 6 sailfish during the tournament, even though they didn’t count towards the money it is good to see them out there. The peak of our offshore and inshore fishing season is upon us and I expect great fishing all around for upcoming charters. We are now offering charters on a tournament rigged 25′ Competition that was used during this tournament (pictured below). Call Captain Chris at 561-451-7646 to book a trip today!

25′ Competition Center Console is now available for charter for $550 half day.
Another big blackfin tuna landed less than a mile from shore.
