Bahamas Wahoo Fishing Charters
This 40 lb wahoo is a typical Bahamas fish during the Winter months off West End, Grand Bahama Island

We offer full day Bahamas wahoo fishing charters departing from Boynton Beach, FL to West End, Grand Bahama. These one day trips are available October through March, when hoardes of hungry wahoo gather along the steep drop offs along the Western Bahamas Bank. These wahoo fishing charters in the Bahamas depart from Florida at 5am and arrive in the Bahamas after a 3 hour boat ride. Once we dock in the Bahamas, it takes about 1 hour to clear customs and we are usually fishing by 10am. Wahoo fishing in this area consists of high speed trolling with lures and natural baits, and we usually spend around 6 hours trolling before making the ride back to Florida before dark. The limit for wahoo is 18 per boat, and it is our goal to reach that limit on every trip. We average about 4 to 6 bites per trip during Bahamas wahoo charter, but sometimes the fishing is red hot and we could catch our limit in a couple hours. Bahamas Wahoo travel in packs during the Winter months, and we often hook up to 4 wahoo at a time while trolling along the bank! Even when the wahoo fishing is slow, there are plenty of cool sights to see like Memory Rock and the picturesque White Sands Bank. Our trolling usually ends around Matanilla Shoal in the Northwest corner of the Bahamas. The wahoo in this part of the Bahamas average 20 to 40 lbs, but larger fish are always possible along the fertile drop offs of the Grand Bahama Bank. This area is known as the wahoo highway, and offers some of the most consistent wahoo fishing in the world. Ice and waters are provided during these charters, but it is up to the clients to bring their own food and beverages. Trolling for wahoo requires great patience, even in this part of the world. Wahoo typically only feed once during every 6 hour tide cycle, so it is common to go for hours without a bite. When the bite turns on, there is often mayhem with multiple hookups and most of the fish are caught within a short amount of time. Bahamas wahoo fishing charters are one of the most exciting ways to spend a day off the coast of Florida. Even when the wahoo bite is slow, our clients enjoy the experience every time. The ocean is always full of surprises during these chartered Bahamas trips. West End is only 55 miles from Florida, and this amazing fishery is just waiting to be further explored.

08/08/16 Fishing Report: Wahoo And Snook Take Center Stage

  • August is the hottest month of the year in more ways than one. First off the biggest wahoo of the year will be following schools of bonito and flying fish only 1 mile off our beaches. The beaches will be holding some giant snook in less than a foot of water. This creates the perfect opportunity to target both species during the same trip. These are my favorite 2 species so this is my favorite time of year to go fishing. While targeting snook and wahoo, my customers can also expect to catch tuna, sailfish, tarpon, kingfish, barracuda, bonito, jacks, and possible even mahi mahi. Here are some photos from July’s fishing charters:

07/06/16 Fishing Report: Big Wahoo Have Arrived, Snook Are Spawning!

A junior angler caught a 42 lb wahoo during a deep sea half day charter on 07/02/16.
Offshore, the biggest wahoo of the year have moved into our local waters between Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. We caught 2 wahoo this week that weighed 32 and 43 lbs, and also hooked a couple more that came off. They are feeding on massive schools of bonito about 1 mile offshore. Blackfin tuna have been filling in the gaps between wahoo bites.

Inshore, giant snook have been biting near the inlets during their Summer spawning ritual. This is catch and release fishing at its finest. This is the best time of year to catch the biggest snook of your life!

5/10/16 Fishing Report: 1st Place Small Boat Division In Saltwater Shootout!

I joined the “Controlled Slack” fishing team for the 2016 Pompano Beach Shootout. We won 1st place small boat division and 22nd overall out of 145 boats. We were able to weigh 63.9 lbs of tuna and kingfish. We made the run to fish my home waters near Boynton Inlet and the decision paid off with some decent Blackfin tuna fishing. We managed to land 3 out of 4 tunas hooked, all weighing 13 to 20 lbs. Around 2pm we went offshore and we found frigate birds with small dolphin under them. We landed a 7 pounder before heading back inshore for a big kingfish or cobia. We caught a small cobia, a 10 lb kingfish, and quite a few bonito before calling it a day. We also hooked into 6 sailfish during the tournament, even though they didn’t count towards the money it is good to see them out there. The peak of our offshore and inshore fishing season is upon us and I expect great fishing all around for upcoming charters. We are now offering charters on a tournament rigged 25′ Competition that was used during this tournament (pictured below). Call Captain Chris at 561-451-7646 to book a trip today!

25′ Competition Center Console is now available for charter for $550 half day.
