We are currently experiencing a transition into Fall fishing patterns offshore and inshore around the Boynton Beach area. Offshore, there has been a good run of mahi mahi about 6 miles out when the ocean is calm enough to let us get out there. Closer to shore, the kingfish have disappeared for now, but sailfish, barracuda, and wahoo have moved in despite murky water from freshwater runoff. These fish are being caught along the drop off 1 mile offshore. On the intracoastal waterway, jacks have been chasing schools of glass minnows in the deeper channels and finger canals. The snook fishing has been hit or miss around the spillways, with high tide often providing the most action. Hopefully the bluefish and mackerel show up in the next coming weeks as they are moved down by Nor’easters and onshore winds. Overall, fishing has been very good!
