Wahoo Fishing Charters in Boca Raton, Florida

Few fish combine speed, power, and excitement quite like the wahoo. Known for blistering runs, razor-sharp teeth, and incredible table fare, wahoo are one of the most prized offshore gamefish we target aboard our 31-foot Bertram.
Our South Florida wahoo fishing charters give anglers the opportunity to chase these incredible predators in the offshore waters of Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Palm Beach County.

Wahoo Fishing in South Florida

South Florida offers excellent opportunities to catch wahoo because deep blue water and the Gulf Stream can be reached relatively quickly from shore. Wahoo frequently patrol current edges, temperature breaks, weed lines, bait concentrations, reefs, wrecks, and other offshore structure. Conditions change constantly, so our approach is based on what the ocean is showing us that day. Rather than simply fishing a predetermined location, we look for the combination of current, clean water, bait, birds, temperature changes, and structure that can concentrate wahoo and other offshore predators.

Fish for Wahoo Aboard Our 31’ Bertram “Divided Sky”

Our offshore wahoo trips are run aboard a 31-foot Bertram, a legendary offshore fishing platform built for serious bluewater fishing. The Bertram provides significantly more room and offshore capability than our inshore boats and can accommodate groups of up to six anglers. With twin 250-horsepower Yamaha outboards, plenty of fishing room, and a layout designed for offshore fishing, the boat gives us the ability to cover water and adjust our fishing strategy as conditions change throughout the day. For anglers looking for the classic South Florida offshore fishing experience, the Bertram is the boat to be on.

Trophy Wahoo Fishing In Delray Beach, FL

How We Catch Wahoo

Wahoo are aggressive predators, but consistently finding them requires covering water and presenting baits at the right depth and speed.
Depending on conditions, we may use several techniques, including:

● High-speed trolling
● Traditional offshore trolling
● Planer fishing
● Weighted and deep-running presentations
● Artificial trolling lures
● Rigged natural baits
One of the biggest advantages of trolling for wahoo is that you never know what else may strike. While targeting wahoo, we may also encounter mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna, kingfish, sailfish, bonito, cobia, and other pelagic species. When that reel starts screaming, you don’t always know what’s on the other end.

When Is the Best Time to Catch Wahoo in Florida?

Wahoo can be encountered throughout the year off South Florida, but fishing opportunities change with water temperature, bait migrations, moon phases, currents, and weather patterns. Certain periods can produce especially good wahoo fishing when favorable Gulf Stream conditions push productive blue water close to the South Florida coastline. If wahoo are your primary target, let us know when booking. We can discuss current offshore conditions and structure the trip specifically around finding them.

The Wahoo Fight

The first run is what makes wahoo fishing unforgettable.
A wahoo can attack a trolling bait at tremendous speed and immediately rip line from the reel. Their combination of speed, strength, and sudden direction changes makes landing one an accomplishment—even for experienced offshore anglers. Then there’s the moment the fish finally appears alongside the boat. With its long, streamlined body, brilliant blue vertical bars, and metallic coloration, a fresh wahoo is one of the most impressive fish you’ll ever see come out of the Atlantic.

Trophy Wahoo Fishing

South Florida is capable of producing some truly impressive wahoo, and every strike carries the possibility of hooking the fish you’ve been looking for. We welcome anglers specifically interested in targeting large wahoo and trophy-class fish. When conditions are favorable, we can dedicate the trip to wahoo and use the techniques we believe give us the best opportunity that day.
There are no guarantees in offshore fishing—but that’s exactly what makes the hunt exciting.

Wahoo Are Excellent Table Fare

Wahoo aren’t just incredible sportfish. They’re also considered one of the best eating fish in the Atlantic.
Their firm, mild meat is excellent grilled, seared, blackened, smoked, or prepared as fresh fish steaks. Catching your own wahoo and bringing home fresh fish for dinner is one of the best ways to finish an offshore fishing trip.

Private Wahoo Fishing Charters

Our wahoo trips are private fishing charters, meaning you’re booking the boat for your group rather than joining a crowded head boat. This gives us the flexibility to tailor the day around your experience level and fishing goals.
Experienced anglers can come ready for a serious day of offshore fishing, while families and first-time fishermen are welcome as well. We’ll provide guidance throughout the trip and help everyone get involved when the action starts.

More Than Just Wahoo

Although we can specifically target wahoo, South Florida’s offshore waters offer an incredible variety of gamefish.
Depending on the season and conditions, our offshore charters may also target:
Sailfish • Mahi-Mahi • Blackfin Tuna • Kingfish • Cobia • Sharks • Snapper • Grouper
That’s one of the things we love about fishing offshore—you never know what the next bite might be.
